In support of Agaba Rogers, and in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Turkey
We invite you to join us on Saturday, October 10th , in Odenplan AT 4 PM m, in solidarity with Agaba Rogers, a gay man from Uganda who is facing deportation from Sweden to Uganda.🇺🇬
Agaba left Uganda in 2014 after facing police persecution, violence, rejection, and discrimination because of his sexual orientation.
Today, he faces the risk of being sent back to a country he left in search of safety.
🚨According to the latest information, numerous death threats against him have been documented, from his family and from many people in Uganda. His personal information has also been shared with the Ugandan police, and complaints have been filed against him with the Ugandan police because of his sexual orientation and his activism in Sweden.
At the same time, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Turkey, amid the escalating pressure against LGBTQ+ people, organizations, and activists, including arrests and detentions of activists.🇹🇷
Our presence matters. Our voices matter. Solidarity matters.
No deportation to danger.
No discrimination or violence because of who we are or whom we love.
Freedom, safety, and dignity are rights for everyone.
