When you move to a small town, it’s so important to get out and participate in everything you can… meet your neighbors, shop small, and celebrate what makes your small town great!

While Mario and Kieran were out of town, mommy and Poppy had a full day to celebrate Rutherford starting with “Rutherford day” where we got to say hello to lots of our favorite small businesses and friends in the town green space and then ended the evening at the community bbq hosted by @allstatedanmeredithrutherford and the @rutherfordchamber.

While I say hello to everyone, walking down the sidewalk, I’m actually quite shy and larger events like the community bbq take a lot of courage for me to go to, but I’m always happy that I went, after the fact. Poppy danced her heart out, to @kurtandmarty band, and even warmed up enough to dance with new friends.

Now she’s snuggled up next to me, drifting off to sleep, and I’m thinking about how thankful I am that my kiddos will grow up in a small town, just like I did!
