Behind the effortless optimism of the great American songbook lies the rigorous mind of a classical architect. Written by Burt Bacharach with lyrics by Hal David for the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, β€œRaindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” won the Academy Award and became a global standard. While it sounds effortlessly breezy, Bacharachβ€”who studied classical composition under French master Darius Milhaudβ€”built the song on subtle rhythmic shifts, unexpected bar lengths, and delicate harmonic resolutions. In March 1970, on the set of This Is Tom Jones, Bacharach joined the Welsh superstar for an intimate, acoustic performance. Accompanied only by legendary session guitarist Big Jim Sullivan on a 12-string guitar, Tom Jones leaves behind his big brass arrangements to sing in a warm, relaxed baritone. Moments later, Bacharach ambles in and sits beside him, delivering the verses with the soft, vulnerable voice of a composer who knows the exact emotional weight of every note. More than half a century later, this broadcast preserves a masterclass in songwriting: a reminder that the greatest music requires no studio bombast to touch the heart. #BurtBacharach #TomJones #RaindropsKeepFallinOnMyHead #HalDavid #MusicHistory
October Reading Recap πŸ¦β€β¬› This month was my month of reset. I promised myself going into 2026, that I would make more quality decisions on which books I would read, and if that means putting down books that I am not enjoying, than so be it. Overall, it was a good month. I still read daily but definitely had a little reading slump mid-month. I also wasn't in the mood to sit down for long periods of time to read. I still somehow finished four books, and had one DNF. The Chain House by @jamesmarkert74 - now out! The Sweetest Fiend by @ravenkennedybooks Tower of Dawn by @sarahjmaas Weyward by @emiliahartbooks Current read: Soul Sworn by @thekatedylan is out November 17th! I joined my first Reading Club, shoutout to the other Vixens, and really enjoyed our October read - The Sweetest Fiend. Looking forward to reading our November book as it's been sitting on my shelf forever I hope you all have a great Halloween weekend πŸŽƒ Q | How was your October? Did you have a favourite read this month? Are you going to any Halloween themed parties this weekend? If you were to dress up as any character from a book, what would you be? #monthlyrecap #readingrecap #October #bookstagram
