It’s been a week since I made the song #LetChildrenBeChildren which was a plea to Governor Gavin Newsom to sign #AB1267 and ban child marriage in CA. A few days after I released the song, he signed the bill! It appears he listened to the plea:

Come on, Gavin…
What will you do?
AB 1267…
The children are waiting too.

They’re too young to vote,
Too young to drink,
Too young for so many choices
That adults can make.
They’re still children,
Still finding their way,
Yet marriage can put harmful abuse her way —
It’s a human rights abuse!

This isn’t just a question
Of whether children can say yes.
It’s a question of why
A child is placed in marriage
In the first place.

Come on, Gavin…
AB 1267,
The moment is here.
What should California see?
Raise the marriage age to eighteen!
No exceptions, please!
Let children be children,
Let them grow up free.

So very happy he did the right thing! I’m proud of the song and even if he didn’t hear it, he still did the right thing that all of us were hoping and praying for - he banned child marriage! Thank you so much, Governor! ❤️
