🎶 LET CHILDREN BE CHILDREN (ECM) – COMING NOVEMBER 10, 2026! WE DID IT! WE ENDED CHILD MARRIAGE IN CALIFORNIA! ❤️ After years of advocacy, we finally celebrated a historic victory! We protested, organised chain-ins, met with legislators, demonstrated at the California State Capitol, advocated tirelessly, and even wrote a song: Let Children Be Children. Our song was shared widely on social media as part of the campaign urging Governor Gavin Newsom to sign AB 1267 into law. On September 30, 2026, he signed the bill! We were overjoyed. All those years of hard work and advocacy had finally paid off. On October 27, 2026, we came together at the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls in Sacramento to celebrate our victory. Thank you to everyone who stood with us and helped make this possible! BUT OUR WORK IS NOT DONE! California became the 18th state to raise the minimum marriage age to 18 with no exceptions. That means 32 states still have work to do. The original song was written for our California campaign. This new version has been adapted for a national audience. Governor Newsom’s name and the reference to AB 1267 have been removed because our message now extends beyond California. The melody continues, but the mission is bigger! COME ON, AMERICA! LET’S END CHILD MARRIAGE! This new version is titled Let Children Be Children (ECM). ECM stands for End Child Marriage. FROM CALIFORNIA TO THE NATION — THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES! This song is for the national campaign to end child marriage across America. California’s victory has shown what determined advocacy can achieve, but children in 32 other states still need protection. My mission is to help raise awareness, inspire action, and encourage every remaining state to end child marriage. COME ON, AMERICA! LET’S MAKE ALL 50 STATES CHILD MARRIAGE-FREE! 🎧 RELEASE DATE: NOVEMBER 10, 2026 The song will be available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, YouTube Music and other platforms. ❤️ PRE-SAVE THE SONG HERE: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/davinderkaur/let-children-be-children-ecm?ref=release Pre-save now so you can find the song when it is released on Novem by @luchanik
Happy Anniversary to #mybook #ForcedToMarryHim. It’s 5 years old today! Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since it was first made available publicly and that was on Amazon! It’s a #Halloweenbook! It has many elements of scariness and horrible happenings, what happened was not a bed of roses. #HappyHallowwen to you all and I made it a matching day for me and my Tesla to have the black and orange thing going on as that is as far as I go for getting dressed up for Halloween! Let’s say coming from England, we didn’t celebrate it there when I was growing up there, now of course England is Americanized and they celebrate it now, but I still don’t dress up. I enjoy seeing others celebrating it though. I got together with my good friend Reva and we celebrated an early Diwali at a local Indian restaurant with sholay bhatura (aka chick peas curry and a nice fried puffy bread). Delicious! Please don’t forget to get my book if you’ve never read it. Maybe you can spook yourself out of someone you know as what happened to me should not happen to anyone else. You can get my #book on Amazon as paperback, ebook or audiobook. It’s also listed and linked from my website forcedtomarryhim.com. by @luchanik
I was driving to work in my new #TeslaY on Monday and made this video which captures a song I was listening to. #teaser alert! It’s #LetChildrenBeChildren (ECM) a remix of the first song and intended to be helpful for any states that would like to share the soundtrack in their posts, etc so we can hopefully end child marriage in all the other 32 states. Come on America, #letsbanchildmarriage #18Down32ToGo by @luchanik
Today, I went to Sacramento to celebrate our victory of ending child marriage here in California! I saw my survivor sisters, other advocates, our wonderful Fraidy Reiss from @unchainedatlast and @ahafoundation We saw @asmgailpellerin and @asmcottie there as well as so many who were instrumental in making this happen. It was wonderful to see @tasneem.sf @christinasaysthings @brittanylovewright @mandyhavliksd @metoofamilycourt We will always share a special bond of sisterhood together. ❤️ We know each other’s pain. It’s such a honour to be with other strong women and what a wonderful place we gathered at - we were hosted by The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Well, the status of girls in California is much better now that children are protected here or will be very soon as the bill Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law on September 30th goes into effect on January 1st, 2027. So glad that Gavin heeded the plea in the song to raise the marriage age to 18, no exceptions! #18Down32ToGo #LetChildrenBeChildren We did it! We have every right to be proud of ourselves. ❤️ by @luchanik
Got my Tesla Y today and I couldn’t be happier! Now, I will get to save on gas, eliminate those trips to the gas station twice a week, charge at home and most wonderfully have FSD! So wonderful to see the sign in the dashboard welcoming me to my new Tesla! So amazing to see the bow! Birthday present to myself and early Christmas all in one. I waited for this beauty since I ordered it on August 22nd! Yes, it felt like I waited ages and gone are those days now checking the Tesla app constantly to see if they changed the arrival date on me. Gone are the days deciding if this was the best EV to get. I was considering a Ioniq 5 Limited too, but the Tesla’s design which is beautiful had always drawn me to it. The FSD also is just an incredible feature and so advanced and smart, how could I resist. It felt incredible “driving” home with full self driving doing all the work and me supervising! My son Luca went with me. We had cappuccino this morning from our new coffee machine, went out after getting the car to Pizza Port. A lovely day! ❤️ Can’t wait to get to know this car better. Excited! Pleased! Ecstatic! by @luchanik
Just had a wonderful zoom meeting with students from #CalStateSanMarcos and enlightened them on my story and how I was #ForcedToMarryHim, how this happened to me in the UK when I was engaged at just 14! Probably shocked them when I let them know how the nasty evil person I was forced to marry was strangling me and then sexually assaulted me. No one should ever be forced to marry a stranger and be put into danger. I got away from him that night. You can read about it in my book. I also told the students how we just banned child marriage here in California literally just weeks ago and how I made a song #letchildrenbechildren to appeal to @cagovernor to raise the marriage age to 18 and he did! He might not have heard my song, not sure - but he did what we survivors and advocates wanted so desperately- an end to child marriage. Our work is not done. #18Down32ToGo. We have to stop this #humanrightsabuse from happening in the other 32 states and we have to do it ASAP. I hope I gave the students a lot to think about. I let them know not everyone gets freedom and the right to an education. I’m sure they will realize how lucky they are. Oh by the way, my song is now on Amazon Music too. by @luchanik
My birthday was last Friday so I took a couple of days away from social media which I do from time to time to be more in the moment and to rejoice. I took the day off from work and started my celebration on Thursday going out to Spaghetti Factory where I haven’t been in ages with a good friend and went dancing until midnight. Great way to see a birthday come in by being outside at a club dancing. Then on my actual birthday the next day, went to an Indian restaurant with another friend and also got roses! It was the first time blowing out candles in Gulab jamun! Luca got me a Nothing Bundt cake, but I was so full from the lunch buffet - still managed to eat it. The next day we drove to Chandra’s campus and we went out to #Baladi and celebrated there with her. It was great seeing Chandra. I’ve missed her so much. Niki called from Turkey where she was vacationing. Lovely speaking with her too. Had a great birthday. I feel very blessed and what a great time also to celebrate, especially days after California just banned child marriage. I was so ready to celebrate and celebrate I did. #celebration #birthday by @luchanik
It’s been a week since I made the song #LetChildrenBeChildren which was a plea to Governor Gavin Newsom to sign #AB1267 and ban child marriage in CA. A few days after I released the song, he signed the bill! It appears he listened to the plea: Come on, Gavin… What will you do? AB 1267… The children are waiting too. They’re too young to vote, Too young to drink, Too young for so many choices That adults can make. They’re still children, Still finding their way, Yet marriage can put harmful abuse her way — It’s a human rights abuse! This isn’t just a question Of whether children can say yes. It’s a question of why A child is placed in marriage In the first place. Come on, Gavin… AB 1267, The moment is here. What should California see? Raise the marriage age to eighteen! No exceptions, please! Let children be children, Let them grow up free. So very happy he did the right thing! I’m proud of the song and even if he didn’t hear it, he still did the right thing that all of us were hoping and praying for - he banned child marriage! Thank you so much, Governor! ❤️ Please listen to my song, like, add follow and share. I would really appreciate it. Our work is not done. California became the 18th state to raise the marriage age to 18. but there’s still 32 states who have to do the same. We still need to spread awareness. Listening to the words on this song is one way to learn about child marriage. 🙏🏽 https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/davinderkaur/let-children-be-children The link is in the bio. by @luchanik
It’s been a week since I made the song #LetChildrenBeChildren. Do you know I made it in just one day? This is just a short clip - I made it as a #canvas for #Spotify. Also, do you know the answer to what Gavin did? He @cagovernor signed the bill #AB 1267 and raised the marriage age to 18 in California! Thank you, Governor! You’re the best. ❤️ Congratulations to all Californians! We did it! Children are finally protected here. 👏👏👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊 Please don’t forget to listen to the song Ias it’s is now on out on Spotify, 🎵 Apple Music 🎵 and YouTube Music. 🎵and ITunes. 🎵 Here’s the Spotify link 🎵: https://open.spotify.com/track/59hlJXVyVDr79QCpBsOhuJ?si=K3-Od_BFRPmKqY9PN_Ch-Q&utm_source=copy-link by @luchanik
Celebrated our big win yesterday with my survivor sister @_brittany_bee__ at @chaiwaleandco. I needed to celebrate the massive victory that we survivors fought so hard for and that was an end to #childmarriage in California! The Governor of CA raised the marriage age to 18 and we had to get together and rejoice! It was too sad that two other survivor sisters couldn’t make it, but we had fun catching up. It was great to see Brittany. As the song that I added here goes, “We are family “. Most of us lose our families due to breaking free from the chains they placed us in, we know the pain that each of us goes through. We have family in one another. As far as the food and drink I got yesterday, I got #the Gulab Jamun Latte I had last time as I love it! I also got the #DesiBurrito - butter chicken, and then a nice large masala chai and a saffron laddoo cheesecake. So very yummy - all of it. ❤️ by @luchanik
I just have to celebrate with this video and song! For everything we just had to do to get where we are today, it won’t be easy to give up the fight. But, we won finally in California! So extremely grateful for @cagovernor for signing the bill #AB1267. He’s absolutely amazing and pulled through for us. We were getting nervous though. Thanks to @unchainedatlast who led the fight to push for change. Now, we have #18Down32ToGo. Thanks to all the survivors and advocates. As for this song, it can be a reminder that child marriage is still happening in this country in all those other 32 states! Unacceptable. Let’s change that too. 🙏🏽 Today, survivors can go to bed thankful that our prayers were heard and what happened to us will at least not happen to other young girls in California, but our fight has to go on for all the children in the other states where this still remains a problem. #celebrate our victory. This is a victory for all children in CA too. Thank you, Governor Newsom again from the bottom of my heart. ♥️ by @luchanik
