2 days agoPup is punk. Ive been a part of it for 15 years and went through a lot of different subcultures in that time but this was always home.
4 days agoTHIS. FUCKIN. THIS. This is why I like and honestly prefer the social side of the pup community.
7 days agoI think there are way bigger problems in the pup community than being “cringe”, so who cares about it, be who you are, don’t compromise yourself for others.
9 days agoIf you make a tent too large, it will collapse, every time. Hold the cringe dearly. It's a hedge.
12 days agoStill haven’t let go 🫤 still looking for acceptance. Hoping for more but haven’t given up yet. I thought I’d find more friends in the community but nothing local. Sigh. Thanks for being here
14 days agoYou're describing cycles, and there's no stable state in the perception of a fad or style. Pup can be cringey, can become and remain mainstream for a while, then eventually fall out of fashion. I hope it sticks around for at least My lifetime but pup is a step on the fashion of things like leather and furry. The best thing for pup to morph into is the next cool thing. And that'd be as (p)awesome as sticking around as is
14 days agoThis just happened with our local renfaire. It became more mainstream and more popular among the general public, and they banned fursuits outright. Very much a bummer, but very much the same in that I wish it had stayed a little more out of the mainstream and more of a subculture
14 days agoSo many things in our gay community have gone mainstream and whereas it's great, in many ways, I think the negative aspects slightly outweighs that. Are spaces have been taken over by the straight community. Our drag shows have for the most part lost their edge. I think we need to find that balance of acceptance. While still staying a bit underground❤️
14 days agoI can't tell, are you wearing your glasses over or under your mask? I've been really struggling with my glasses lol
15 days agoMixed bag tbh. I’m all for “stay cringe” because screw what other people think, but I don’t really consider myself part of the “community.” It’s mostly something between me and my partner, and mainly in the bedroom. I guess I’ve never really understood making it such an integral part of your personality or having it extend so much beyond the bedroom. I can still have a playful personality and enjoy being silly without feeling like I need to keep the pup mask on all the time, if that makes sense. But that's just me, and obviously, no judgment for the pups out there that ARE part of the community. Just wanted to share my thoughts too and because I'm genuinely curious.
15 days agoSo this is where all the puppy brain cells went! This smart dog is using em all to think thoughts!
15 days agoThat absolute comfort in being different, free, expressive, and cringey (in an adorable way I must say 🐶) is such a powerful part of pup play, and almost singlehandedly converted me. The community is far from perfect - we can't entirely escape humanities flaws after all - but regardless the community is genuinely incredible, and a beautiful thing to experience.
