Pasadena, we’re coming for you! 📚👟
Our first-ever Pasadena walking book club is happening Sunday 10/25, and we’re kicking it off with a true Pasadena icon: @liandolan, who has her very own star on the walk of fame right outside @vromansbookstore !
We’ll be walking and talking with Lian about her sparkling summer rom-com, Abigail and Alexa Save the Wedding. Two moms, one dream wedding, and a whole lot of Montecito chaos.
📍 Meet us at Vroman’s at 9am (come say hi to Lian’s star!) 🚗 Free parking in the lot behind Vroman’s, plus plenty of street parking nearby 🌳 We’ll stroll for 40 minutes down lovely shaded streets and circle back to Vroman’s for signing, shopping, and photos

Something different from our usual art, but we felt compelled to speak up about this issue and advocate for our feathered friends the crows🐦⬛ This year, Singapore carried out operations of crow culling, with recent videos of it going viral as onlookers watch. Many comments flooded these videos, with a mix of strong support and hate for the crows, as well as much protests for the cruelty of the act and a call for better methods. We saw these videos and they were heart breaking, however it was also an opportunity to educate more people about the plight of these animals, and what better methods we can turn to.
The culling of crows without addressing long term solutions is just a quick way to reduce their numbers. It only leads to a cruel cycle. Instead, the key to long term wildlife management is education, prevention, and learning from successful methods employed in other cities.
So what can we do?
1. Better waste management: make sure your trash is disposed properly, especially food scraps.
2. Do not feed wildlife/crows
3. Give their nesting areas space and walk past calmly, carrying an umbrella if you have one.
4. Support and advocate for more human solutions.
The crow problem (and other urban animals) in many cities is human made, they don’t deserve to pay the price for problems our urban systems and people have created. We can build a safe city that can co-exist with urban wildlife with a bit more patience, empathy, compassion and understanding.
