📽 from @开开心心过日子 | DY Cats have a specialized collarbone that lets them always land on their feet. The free-floating clavicle combined with an extremely flexible backbone allows cats to perform a mid-air righting reflex in as little as 0.3 seconds. They twist their front body first, then their back body follows, using their tail as a counterbalance. Kittens develop this ability by 7 weeks old. Surprisingly, cats falling from higher floors often survive better than those falling from lower ones because they have more time to spread their legs like a parachute, reaching a terminal velocity of about 60 mph.
Released in 1992, “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” became one of the most important songs in West Coast hip-hop. It brought together Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg and introduce G-funk to a much wider audience. Filmed on November 8 and 9, 1992, the official music video of "Nuthin’ But A G Thang" captures the atmosphere of everyday life in Southern California. Shot around Los Angeles, Compton and Long Beach, the video reflects the West Coast culture that shaped the sound and identity of the record. Dr. Dre is credited as the video’s director. Rather than relying on a complex story, the video presents a laid-back picture of the people and places surrounding the music. Its visual style became closely linked to the image of early 1990s West Coast rap. The song was built around a sample of Leon Haywood’s 1975 funk track “I Want’a Do Something Freaky to You.” Snoop Dogg’s verses were developed with help from rapper and songwriter The D.O.C., who helped shape the lyrics into a complete song. The track helped establish Snoop Dogg as a major new voice in hip-hop and marked a key moment in Dr. Dre’s career as a solo artist. The mixing credits include Chris “The Glove” Taylor and Greg Royal, alongside Dr. Dre. Bernie Grundman is credited as the mastering engineer. It finally appeared on Dr. Dre’s debut solo album, The Chronic, released in December 1992. Don’t miss the next archive.
