Aiken County deputy remains in stable condition tonight after being shot following a brief chase. The female suspect involved in the shooting has died.

People outside Wellstar MCG Medical Center described seeing officers lined up around the hospital and surrounding an ambulance as the deputy and suspect were brought to Augusta.

SLED has taken over the investigation.
