“Can I put this through the business?”

Probably one of the questions I get asked the most 😂

And I get why.

There are so many different things you’re spending money on when you run a business, and it isn’t always obvious what counts as a business expense and what doesn’t.

But there is one question you can ask yourself that makes it MUCH simpler...

“Is this wholly and exclusively for my business?”

Basically - did you buy it for the purpose of running your business?

If yes, you’re heading in the right direction.

Of course, because this is tax, there are exceptions and slightly different rules depending on the expense (it couldn’t possibly be completely straightforward could it 😂).

But I never want you to feel like you need to understand loads of complicated tax jargon just to know what you can and can’t claim.

So let’s make this useful...

Drop an expense you’re unsure about in the comments and I’ll tell you whether it could be a business expense 👇

And save this one for the next time you’re staring at a receipt wondering where on earth it belongs 😂
