9 days agoBut even after slavery was abolished, danes still carried on with slavetrade, the just sold the slaves in the americas. A big part of Copenhagen is build on the triangle trade, and a lot of still existing companies where finacially built on chattel slavery
9 days agoI took this photo in October 2019. I went looking for her this past summer and our very good friend (who took me to see her the first time) told me she was badly damaged) as she was made from polystyrene and polymer. Her plinth is still there though and we are hoping a new bronze cast statue will be commissioned. Sorry about the bad photo - it was dark and rainy that evening
10 days ago@jeannetteehlers Same but I made a post about this when I visited a few months ago. The statue suffered significant damage during a storm on December 27, 2020, leaving it irreparable. Since then, only the plinth remains, and the artists are trying to fund a permanent bronze version of the statue. I was told things are being worked on as I speak to bringing the monument back in Copenhagen. I don’t know how much I believe the storm story until I hear it from @iamqueenmaryofficial ‘s mouth 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
