With the exhibition Lagoon, Lars Christensen returns to a gesture nearly 20 years old: the paper is perforated by thousands of small holes, through which thin threads of paint are pushed out and gather into a single mass of fine, slender strands.

A sustained investigation of the material’s breaking point, cohesion, and gradual shifts in state unfolds across seven freely suspended works on paper, in which technique, colour, and expression converge in the metaphorical title. The seven colours, flat and unambiguous in their starting point, are transformed as they are pushed through the holes, become physical, and meet the light and shadow of the room - suspended between what the eye gathers into a single surface and what it can see through.

The exhibition is on view through 28 November 2026.

FINAL WEEK

This is the final week to experience Beyond Tropaganda at 2112 Copenhagen.

The exhibition features works by Alma Akua, La Vaughn Belle, David A. Berg, Nanna Debois Buhl, Katrine Dirckinck-Holmfeld, Jeannette Ehlers, Trine Mee Sook Gleerup, Julie Edel Hardenberg, Gerville Larsen, and Lisbeth Karline Poulsen.

Curated by Mathias Danbolt and Jeannette Ehlers.

Developed in direct dialogue with Mathias Danbolt’s newly published book Tropaganda: Kunst, kolonialisme og kampe om historien, the exhibition brings together artistic practices that critically engage with the legacies of colonialism connecting Denmark, Kalaallit Nunaat, the US Virgin Islands, Ghana, and wider colonial geographies.

Through photography, painting, sculpture, installation, moving image and archival practices, Beyond Tropaganda explores how contemporary art can reshape the images and narratives through which colonial histories continue to be understood.

The exhibition is on view through 17 October 2026.

OPENING SOON

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of
Ruth Campau’s first solo exhibition with the gallery

Pink Banana and Bitter Chocolate

Friday, 23 October 2026
17 – 19

2112
Holbergsgade 20
Copenhagen

Ruth Campau’s works occupy a position between pop and zen. Pop, because their brilliant colours and sharpness create a precise, minimal and graphic visual language. Zen, because each work has been created through a meditative and focused process in which Campau draws a broom through wet paint, thereby forming long strokes. This is a technique that can be repeated endlessly and that points back to the act of painting itself. Ruth Campau’s works are first and foremost paintings, but because the artist, among other things, bends and folds the works, they also appear as wall-mounted objects or reliefs with a distinct sculptural quality.

In the exhibition Pink Banana and Bitter Chocolate, Campau has applied her strokes to transparent acrylic, mylar and mirrors – materials that all behave differently in their response to the many strokes of paint. While some works are permeated by light and thus appear changeable over the course of the day, others reflect the viewer directly.

A common feature of Campau’s works is their colour-saturated surfaces. Pink Banana and Bitter Chocolate refers to the titles of two new, large-scale works in the exhibition, while also evoking something edible and hinting at the sensuous appeal of Campau’s works. Their bright, crisp and luminous colours evoke associations with sweets. They appear appetising and alluring, and invite the viewer into a state of calm, clarity and sensuality, in which pop and zen come together.

The exhibition will be on view through 19 December 2026.

NEW COLLABORATION

The Archives

A LIVING COLLECTION - a collaboration with Christine Callsen Copenhagen House / Meridiani House

Interior architect and art collector Christine Callsen and gallerist and art historian Caroline Bøge, owner of 2112, present The Archives — a curated art installation within Callsen’s Copenhagen House / Meridiani House showroom on Strandvejen in Hellerup north of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Set among Meridiani interiors, the exhibition unfolds as a lived-in narrative rather than a traditional display. Works from the 1960s to today, drawn from the archives of 2112’s represented artists, are placed in dialogue with the furniture and selected works from Callsen’s personal collection — not as decoration, but as companions to daily life. The presentation brings together selected works by artists with strong museum and institutional presence, underscoring a commitment to enduring artistic quality. These are works that exist beyond trends and are grounded in significant practices and histories, and here experienced in an intimate, domestic setting.

The Archives explores the idea of collecting as an ongoing, intuitive process. Art is not treated as something static or distant, but as something that accumulates meaning over time — shaped by context, memory, and personal history.

Each piece carries its own past, yet together they form a cohesive atmosphere: a space that feels assembled across decades. The presentation invites visitors to experience art the way it exists in a home — layered, evolving, and deeply intertwined with the rhythms of living. It reflects a sensibility where design and art are inseparable, and where a collection becomes a portrait of a life lived with attention.

Works by:

Ruth Campau, Lars Christensen, Sophie Dupont, Gun Gordillo, Lea Guldditte Hestelund, Malene Landgreen, David McCabe, Kirstine Roepstorff, Dan Stockholm, Eva Weis Bentzon a.o.

ARTIST TALK TODAY

We are pleased to invite you to the artist talk Fragments and Silences with Virgin Islands-based artist La Vaughn Belle

Wednesday, 7 October 2026

17:00 – 18:30

2112
Holbergsgade 20
Copenhagen

How do we remember histories that have been erased, fragmented, or deliberately forgotten? In this artist talk, La Vaughn Belle discusses her artistic practice and her two works in Beyond Tropaganda: Trading Post (2015) and Storm (2020–22). Working across installation, photography, painting, video, writing, and public interventions, Belle explores how images, objects, and landscapes hold multiple temporalities, bringing fragments of history, memory, and lived experience into new relationships.

Following Belle’s presentation, she will be joined in conversation by the curators of Beyond Tropaganda, art historian Mathias Danbolt and artist Jeannette Ehlers, to discuss how art can challenge colonial histories and shape public memory. The conversation will also offer an update on Belle and Ehlers’ ongoing collaborative project, I Am Queen Mary (2018–), the landmark monument in Copenhagen commemorating resistance to Danish colonialism in the former Danish West Indies.

Beyond Tropaganda is developed in direct dialogue with Mathias Danbolt’s newly published book Tropaganda: Kunst, kolonialisme og kampe om historien and brings together a group of artists whose practices critically engage with the legacies of colonialism connecting Denmark, Kalaallit Nunaat, the US Virgin Islands, Ghana, and wider colonial geographies.

The exhibition’s performance and talks programme is generously supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Danish Arts Foundation.

The exhibition is on view through 17 October 2026.

We hope to see you!

OPEN NOW

Carla Zaccagnini
The Mahi-Mahi Effect
Lunds Konsthall, Mårtenstorget 3, Lund
Curated by Jarí Malta

This autumn, Lunds Konsthall presents the largest solo exhibition in Europe to date by Carla Zaccagnini.

The core of the exhibition is a series of new works produced during a month-long trip across the Atlantic. Between 17 September and 15 October last year, Zaccagnini travelled on a tall ship from Cascais in southern Portugal to Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago off the eastern coast of Brazil. Beyond its physical dimension, the trip was consciously conceived as an affective, epistemic and counter-pedagogical journey, an experience that came to permeate the exhibition as a whole.

These new productions share a performative imprint and are brought into dialogue with earlier works by Zaccagnini. In this way, the exhibition highlights some of the recurring themes and artistic strategies that articulate her conceptually driven practice. Through drawing, video installation and writing, Zaccagnini investigates non-Eurocentric perceptions of time and space, as well as the transformative potential embedded in displacement and translation.

On view through 29 November 2026
