Today is World Cerebral Palsy day and I wanted to share another clip of Rena,
@ilaroseart , and me all having one of our fun music hangs playin a song I wrote for ila and sharing with Rena for the first time. She sure ate it up with the biggest smiles and laughs I’ve heard from her yet and even repeating some of it back to us. We also started riffing some additional improvised verses later on which she was really good at 😁
For those who may not know, Rena is ila’s older sister with cerebral palsy and has developed mental illness over the past few years. Her health is in decline and she has been in hospice for the past 6 months. Getting to know Rena over the past 2 years has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. She’s taught me many things but mostly reminding me of how beautiful it can be to deeply connect with someone who has a developmental disability and see how their soul can shine that transcends any physical form or limitations. She’s sweet, sassy, strong, and full of spunk. I’ve grown to love her and feel honored to know her and consider her as close as family❤️
Ain’t nothin precious round here ‘cept you, Rena 🙏🏼
