Took Kato out to the Oregon desert for his 12th birthday. It was a much needed dose of stillness and reconnection to nature we both needed. Under a full hunter’s moon, we may have had the whole of the Alvord desert playa to ourselves but we were very much not alone..the quietest place I’ve been yet the loudest in magic and enchantment✨ Deep recalibration of the mind, expansive illumination of the heart, nourishment of the body, and profound surrendering of the soul gave way to a cleansing of much that has been clouded inside. I felt fully supported spiritually as I was reflecting on, processing, and honoring the past while grieving visions of the future, all to arrive once again to the here and now; a reminder that it is the important and only real place to be. With reverence to the land, we howled with the coyotes, stared at the swirling cloud caricatures, Kato found one stick but ended up burying firewood logs inside the tent (the only reasonable place, of course) we fell asleep under the blanket of stars and awoke to the same moon and opposite sunrise..took me back to time spent with Kato on the road many moons ago and how special he is to me and how his love has been instrumental during periods of growth and healing. The best copilot and adventure buddy. Always down for anything and everything and exploring the world with endless curiosity. I look forward to more moments like these.
Happy birthday, sweet boy 💙🐺
oh and also found a sweet’n’spooky rock that matches my sweet’n’spooky tat, a skullface mushroom mama

Today is World Cerebral Palsy day and I wanted to share another clip of Rena, @ilaroseart , and me all having one of our fun music hangs playin a song I wrote for ila and sharing with Rena for the first time. She sure ate it up with the biggest smiles and laughs I’ve heard from her yet and even repeating some of it back to us. We also started riffing some additional improvised verses later on which she was really good at 😁

For those who may not know, Rena is ila’s older sister with cerebral palsy and has developed mental illness over the past few years. Her health is in decline and she has been in hospice for the past 6 months. Getting to know Rena over the past 2 years has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. She’s taught me many things but mostly reminding me of how beautiful it can be to deeply connect with someone who has a developmental disability and see how their soul can shine that transcends any physical form or limitations. She’s sweet, sassy, strong, and full of spunk. I’ve grown to love her and feel honored to know her and consider her as close as family❤️

Ain’t nothin precious round here ‘cept you, Rena 🙏🏼

This Saturday night, at @orcoastconfluence - catch BR Lively and the Rose Gold Parade as they grace our stage with their blend of Rock, Blues, Soul, and Americana - with a little delightful silliness thrown in. 6:45 pm sharp…be there! by @brlively

SATURDAY AT OREGON COAST CONFLUENCE
October 10 | Gardiner, Oregon | Noon-10pm

Saturday brings a full day of live music to the Oregon Coast School of Art, with a lineup that moves between soulful songwriting, funk, psychedelic rock, experimental sounds, and irresistible grooves.
From the keyboard artistry of Dario LaPoma and the comedic musical stylings of Rhythm DeLucco, to the hometown energy of the Boondock Daddies, deep grooves from Geena Glaser, and the soulful sounds of Jermaine - Saturday is a celebration of musical creativity in all its forms.
As the evening unfolds, BR Lively brings his electrifying blend of folk, soul, and rock ’n’ roll to the stage, followed by the genre-bending sounds of OnwordsUpwords, before the Kinky Brothers close out Saturday night with their infectious, dance-ready energy.
A full day of music, building toward one unforgettable Saturday night at Oregon Coast Confluence.

Beyond the performances, explore Earth Is Home, an exhibition of paintings by Kyle Lind, browse artisan vendors, enjoy local food, and raise a glass with offerings from regional breweries and wineries.
