Two people can have the same BMI and completely different metabolic health.
Why? Because where you store fat matters.
Subcutaneous fat can act as a relatively safe storage reservoir. But when lipid accumulates disproportionately in the liver, around the organs, or in other ectopic sites, it is much more strongly associated with insulin resistance and metabolic disease. This helps explain why someone can look lean while carrying significant metabolic risk—and why another person can carry more visible body fat without the same metabolic profile.
BODY SIZE IS WHAT YOU SEE.
FAT DISTRIBUTION IS WHAT YOU DON’T.
