Back in May, we were given a no fault eviction notice to leave our home of 11 years.

The house had given us nothing but headaches for years - I was always too embarrassed to show much of our house but there were huge issues with damp & mould that the landlords refused to acknowledge, there were tons of structural problems which resulted in 3 ceiling collapses during our time there, and the landlords always tried to avoid paying proper contractors for repairs - instead they’d send random handymen from their church who’d usually make the problema worse.

I was sick to death of it but the eviction, following yet another ceiling collapse and the discovery of a huge leak under the floorboards, was still traumatic.

Being forced out of the only home your kids have known is upsetting for them and it made me feel worthless if i’m honest.

We still had to pay almost £1k per month rent to live in these conditions during our notice period.

But finally, 5 months and a cross-country move later, we’re starting to feel settled in a lovely new home.

It shouldn’t feel like a luxury not to be living with mould and holes in ceilings, but it does.

Halloween specials just hit different.
