✨ARC Review 📖✨
“I know now that perfection in life doesn’t exist. It’s messy, unpredictable, and fucking beautiful” 💫
At the end of the day, sometimes it’s about who you want to share a basket of fries with🍟…IYKYK. This story follows Noah and Quinn, a couple in crisis at a crossroads in their marriage. Quinn signs them up for a marriage retreat in hopes of salvaging their relationship, and they both head to the desert to reconnect. Enter Beck, one of the counselors at the retreat, who instantly connects with Quinn over a basket of fries . Unbeknownst to Quinn, Beck was once in a relationship with Noah (that ended VERY poorly 💔), and he has been assigned as their mentor for the retreat . What follows is a VERY heartfelt (and SEXY ❤️🔥) healing journey for all three of them as they seek to explore their feelings, RECONNECT, and mend their broken relationships ❤️🩹.
This book surpassed all my expectations. Kayla’s books are usually a good time, but I think she did a terrific job capturing the complexities of relationships and the benefits of open communication. She didn’t shy away from the hard stuff and did a great job creating relatable characters in Quinn, Noah and Beck. My favorite parts were when they were working on learning to just BREATHE together 💓.
The healing journey isn’t linear, and this book was a realistic portrayal of loss and redemption. Highlighting the importance of communication, being vulnerable with the ones you love, and being true to oneself and one’s desires. There is a HEFTY dose of spice in this book (seriously, check your triggers if you have a low spice tolerance 🥵🌶️), but it didn’t distract from the story and it was handled well. I loved how they all showed up for one another in different ways and really FOUGHT for their relationships. If you like your romance sweet & spicy, then I think you’ll enjoy this one 💖❤️🔥.
