So I sat down and learned every number. And I made sure that the moment a barber joins the team, they know what it takes to run a career, not just a chair.

1. Knew every number before I signed my lease.
2. Priced out the stations and everything it would cost to open.
3. Planned for the website and overhead, so the shop could cover itself.
4. Made sure every barber who joins understands their taxes and their retirement.
5. Built a culture first.
I wasn’t trying to just open a shop. I wanted to create a culture.
That’s my foundation, and that’s why I opened my doors.

Know your numbers 👏 that was the best advice I got in school and it’s stuck with me. If you’re reading this and don’t know what a pro forma is I highly recommend learning and building one before opening your business. It’s a reality check of what everything will cost and what your net profit will be.
