Welcome to another secret reveal from a veteran DJ. Have you ever wondered why a DJ mix just seems to bring you to another level? Wonder why you feel happy, then sad, then excited, then chill...then angry and then happy? Well, it's actually science...and us experienced DJ's use that to our advantage. Let me be clear...most good DJ's just know when something sounds good, but some of you newer DJ's are definately struggling with your mix. It's not technical where you're lacking...it's medical.

I agree that mixing in key is important, but I think it's more of a tool than a rule. There are plenty of ways to transition between tracks in different keys without creating harmonic clashes. Plus, key detection isn't always accurate, and some tracks even change key throughout. Actually, I think trusting your ears matters more than trusting the software.
