Meet Nala! She’s a 1-year-old, medium sized mix and a volunteer favorite.

October is recognized as Pit Bull Awareness Month, founded in 2007 to help fix this breed’s bad image.

Unfortunately shelters are still filled with pits... They wait longer than other dogs to be adopted, and they’re more likely to be euthanized, not because of anything they’ve done, but because of what people assume about them.

Nala is proof of this. She’s been at @scituateanimalshelter for 6 months :( Nala is shy and fearful of strangers, people easily overlook her due to her complications. But once she trusts you, she’ll love you.

She just needs someone patient who understands dogs, with a quieter home and a commitment to training.
