“If integration does not ultimately serve our people, then we must ask what purpose it serves.” - Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados
Senator the Honourable Christopher P. Sinckler, Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade delivered remarks during the 41st Session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
In addressing “A New Stage of Regional Integration: What to Do and How to Move Forward,” the Senior Minister highlighted regional integration as a critical instrument for small states to overcome the limitations of size, emphasising that its success must ultimately be measured by its tangible impact on people.
The 41st Session provides a key forum for Member States to address pressing development challenges across Latin America and the Caribbean, review ECLAC’s work and progress, and shape the priorities that will guide the Commission’s work in the years ahead.
Barbados remains committed to meaningful regional cooperation and advancing solutions that respond to the shared development priorities of our region.
