Penghui Cao joins the UC San Diego Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department and our Fusion Engineering Institute. Cao studies how materials behave in extreme environments — particularly fusion energy systems — and designs new materials capable of withstanding the high temperature, thermal flux and radiation exposure in fusion reactors.
