One thing I’ve learnt to be OK with as a first time dad is being a villain. If you’re not ok with temporarily disappointing someone, you won’t ever be able to show them what’s possible.

Your feelings don’t come first - because it’s not about you…

As a coach, I challenge people everyday. What makes you loved should to some degree also make you ‘hated’. The tricky fine line is the balance..

Ironically, that’s all Cali had to learn.

And that’s been my learning over my entire career too.

Because it’s not our responsibility to convince someone they’re capable of more.

But I take it as a personal responsibility to make sure I never validate someone’s limit, if I know they’re capable of more.

All you need is one person to see in you what you don’t yet believe. I’ve had many great men and women across my years of life who have seen me in ways I didn’t have the courage to see myself in yet.

Most of these people I was also challenged by, for the very same reason as to why I loved them.

I was a villain the last month, but now Cali feels like a hero.

And that’s what matters most to me.
