“At 18, I shaved off all my hair. After losing Appa and my older sister, I’d spent years trying to cope with a pain I couldn’t put into words. One day, I just wanted to do something that made me feel a little lighter…”

“I was just 13 when we lost Appa to COVID. Suddenly, Amma was trying to help the three of us cope while grieving herself. My sister, my younger brother and I were learning what it meant to miss someone every day. We found comfort in small things… Talking about our day, sharing a little happiness or simply sitting together. We couldn’t take away each other’s pain, but we could be there for one another. Slowly, we began learning to live without Appa… But little did we know we’d have to watch someone else we loved slip away from us.”

“In 2022, my elder sister, Rasitha, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. I was just 15, and she had always been the person I was closest to. When the doctors told us she might not have much time left, I broke down. I had already lost Appa… I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her, too.”

“Watching my sister lose her hair during chemotherapy broke my heart. I couldn’t take away her pain, but I wanted her to feel a little less alone. So, I cut my hair short, too. After we lost her, I donated my hair to cancer patients. I’d seen how much losing it had affected her… If mine could bring someone else a little comfort, I wanted to give them that.”

“For two years, we did everything we could for Rasitha – chemotherapy, hospital visits, tests… Through it all, we held on to the hope that she would get better… But in 2024, we lost her.
I had spent so much time by her side, giving her medicines, feeding her and looking after her. My days revolved around her care. I had already lost Appa. Losing my sister, too, was a grief I didn’t know how to live with...”

“For the next two years, I struggled with depression and took medication for over a year. Slowly, I tried to find my way back to myself, but feeling happy again wasn’t easy.”

“Then, one day, I thought, ‘Enough of crying. I’m going to shave my head.’ I’d always wanted to do it before turning 20, and whenever life got difficult, changing my hair was my way of finding som

at least i can be alone when im falling into you 🫩 embarrassingly visual out now

A little matching black, a little attitude, and a whole lot of chemistry.🖤🖤

But somehow, you’re still my favorite person to laugh with, annoy, and do absolutely nothing with.🥰

Almost nobody has eaten Gordon Ramsay’s food, and most of the planet would still bet money he’s a great chef.

So, how do we trust his taste?

We’ve watched him work for years.

We’ve seen him spot mistakes, explain what makes a dish exceptional, hold people to impossibly high standards, and demonstrate an almost ridiculous amount of knowledge about food.
He’s built a reputation with millions of people who’ve never stepped foot inside one of his restaurants.

And real estate agents have an opportunity to do something very similar on Instagram.

But (and this is important!!) here’s where I think a lot of agents get it wrong:

‼️ They jump straight to proving they’re a great agent before they’ve given anyone a reason to pay attention.

Gordon Ramsay didn’t build an audience by exclusively talking to people looking for a fine dining reservation. He made content that people who love FOOD wanted to watch.

Your equivalent? People who love their city, are curious about the homes in their neighborhood, or spend their Sunday afternoons scrolling Zillow with absolutely no intention of moving.

Give those people a reason to follow you.

Then, once they’re watching, let them see what makes you exceptionally good at your job.

Your opinions. Your standards. The things you notice that other people miss. The decisions you make on behalf of your clients.
Not another graphic announcing that you’re a local market expert.
Actual evidence that you are one.

Because the goal isn’t to convince someone to hire you with a single Instagram post.

It’s to become so familiar, trusted, and respected in your market that when they finally need an agent, you’re the first person they think of.
