Shielded in the Shadows by Lisa Edmonds
📅 Pub date: October 15, 2026
Book 4 in the Fortusian Mates series, but it’s a standalone sci-fi romance! 🚀

🖤 Fated mates
🖤 A human smuggler and an alien intelligence agent
🖤 A reluctant FMC and a devoted MMC
🖤 Space pirates and bounty hunters
🖤 A search for her missing sister

She’s a criminal who always flies solo. He’s the intergalactic lawman who breaks the rules to steal her heart. 🔥

Smuggler Keela Wren has a problem. 🤭 There’s a bounty on her head big enough to attract every mercenary and privateer in the sector, and even her allies can’t be trusted anymore. When a lead on her missing sister forces her out of hiding, bounty hunters converge and Keela is plunged into a desperate battle for her freedom.

Intelligence agent Jarrix Tov’ok is just surviving. His latest undercover assignment aboard a pirate ship is disrupted when the captain drops their planned raid to chase a lucrative bounty on a female smuggler. The second he meets their target, Jarrix realizes the fierce human warrior is his true mate, and he has to betray his crew and his mission to get her off the space station alive!

Keela has no use for a mate, even one as well-trained and apparently devoted as Jarrix. The sooner she’s rid of this absurdly attractive male, the sooner she can get back to tracking down her sister. 🫶🏻

But Jarrix is just as determined to use their temporary alliance to prove he’s the ideal mate for a woman who’s fought too long and too hard to compromise on anything, especially command of her ship, her destiny, and her heart. 🖤
