Just *one more sleep* until Shielded in the Shadows drops in KU and paperback and you can meet Jarrix in the flesh. 😈🍆🍆

He is a total menace—and a total simp for warrior ship captain Keela. When I say he’s down bad, I mean down BAD. And he doesn’t mind taking the captain’s orders…or being disciplined for a bit of cheeky insubordination.

All the love to @victoria_babitskaya_art and @flavulousart for this gorgeous art!

ARC review ❤️‍🔥🌌🛸

Thank you so much to NetGalley and The Storybook House for the ARC 🫶🏻

🖤 Fated mates
🖤 Human smuggler and alien intelligence agent
🖤 Space pirates and bounty hunters
🖤 A search for her missing sister
🖤 Spicyyyyyy 🔥

Keela is a ship captain and a smuggler on the run across the galaxy. There’s a bounty on her head, and she’s still trying to find her lost sister.

Ahhhhh, I ate this up!!! 🔥

FMC Keela is a BADASS and I absolutely adored her. She’s strong, smart and capable! 🔥

Jarrix is OBSESSED. He knew immediately that she was his fated mate and he’s determined to do everything to protect her. It was very insta lust, at least from his side, but I don’t mind! 🖤

“Only a male would believe someone like me would give up everything for the privilege of being called his mate.”
“I would never ask you to give up anything. It is I who will give up everything to be at your side.”

Their beginning is rough and I felt so sorry for Jarrix, but I laughed at Keela 😂

“I’m not interested in either your semen or your venom.”

I loved how Jarrix genuinely wanted to get to know Keela and earn her trust. I adored watching their relationship grow! 🖤

The spice was soooo good 🤭🔥 Jarrix has 2 🍆🍆 and knows how to use them 😂

“My mate was hungry for me. Nothing else mattered but that.”

I’M MELTING 🫠

“Then take me. Show me how well you can please your captain.”

Keela, girl, stoooop. She’s in control and I looooved it! 🔥

I definitely need to read more books from The Fortusian Mates series!

I really recommend this one if you want an action packed, alien, spicy romance! 🖤🔥

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Starting a new ARC 🛸🌌🪐

Thank you so much to NetGalley and The Storybook House for the ARC 🫶🏻

Shielded in the Shadows by Lisa Edmonds
📅 Pub date: October 15, 2026
Book 4 in the Fortusian Mates series, but it’s a standalone sci-fi romance! 🚀

🖤 Fated mates
🖤 A human smuggler and an alien intelligence agent
🖤 A reluctant FMC and a devoted MMC
🖤 Space pirates and bounty hunters
🖤 A search for her missing sister

She’s a criminal who always flies solo. He’s the intergalactic lawman who breaks the rules to steal her heart. 🔥

Smuggler Keela Wren has a problem. 🤭 There’s a bounty on her head big enough to attract every mercenary and privateer in the sector, and even her allies can’t be trusted anymore. When a lead on her missing sister forces her out of hiding, bounty hunters converge and Keela is plunged into a desperate battle for her freedom.

Intelligence agent Jarrix Tov’ok is just surviving. His latest undercover assignment aboard a pirate ship is disrupted when the captain drops their planned raid to chase a lucrative bounty on a female smuggler. The second he meets their target, Jarrix realizes the fierce human warrior is his true mate, and he has to betray his crew and his mission to get her off the space station alive!

Keela has no use for a mate, even one as well-trained and apparently devoted as Jarrix. The sooner she’s rid of this absurdly attractive male, the sooner she can get back to tracking down her sister. 🫶🏻

But Jarrix is just as determined to use their temporary alliance to prove he’s the ideal mate for a woman who’s fought too long and too hard to compromise on anything, especially command of her ship, her destiny, and her heart. 🖤
