Why my real-life abusers don’t get a single line or scene in our psychological horror film 🎬👇
When my husband Ryan wrote My Beautiful Rose based on my childhood trauma, he made a strict rule: the people who hurt me don’t deserve a platform or a face in our story.
So instead, the abuse is written into the narrative as an unavoidable catastrophic event—like a car crash. The whole movie is about what happens INSIDE the survivor as she reclaims her life.
It took me 20 years to finally process everything, and creating this film has been part of my healing. 75% of our indie horror movie is shot, and we’re raising finishing & post-production funds for editing, score, sound, color, and VFX!
