경직된 표정의 알렉세이는 내 장난과 호기심에 금세 자기 얘기를 푼다.
쇼스타코비치, 레핀, 도스토옙스키, 로드첸코, 그리고 리시츠키, 세르게이 나카리코프까지. 지금 이 시간 러시아의 전쟁통 이야기, 그리고 이 뛰어난 친구가 성장해 온 환경에 관한 이야기들은 내 의식 속 소련을 떠올리게 한다.
Toska. 숭고한 아름다움은 그러나 마주하고 싶지 않은 극단의 처절함을 동반한다. 그것이 과거의 것이 아닌, 지금 이 지구에서 지속된다는 것.
엘리트 스포츠 교육과 클래식 음악 교육을 모두 마친 알렉세이. 얼마나 지독한 노력을 했을까.
그 두 세계를 스스로 뒤로하고, 전쟁 중인 나라에서 로커이자 인플루언서로 살아가는 알렉세이. 그의 눈빛과 말투.
그럼에도 스멀스멀 드러나는 소년 같은 순수함. 아름다움.

He seemed a little tense at first, but my jokes and questions soon got him talking.
Shostakovich, Repin, Dostoevsky, Rodchenko, Lissitzky, and Sergei Nakariakov. We talked about the war in Russia today, and the world this remarkable friend grew up in. It all brought back the Soviet Union I had long carried in my mind.
Toska. There is something deeply beautiful, almost sacred, in all that pain. Yet the suffering behind it is almost too much to face. And it is not just history. It is still happening in our world today.

Aleksei completed elite education in both sports and classical music. How hard he must have worked.
He chose to leave both worlds behind. Now he lives as a rocker and influencer in a country at war.

How he gaze with his eyes.
The way he speaks.
And still, little by little, a boyish innocence comes through. Beauty.
