Meet @silja.manninen and @riittahakkarainen
Silja Manninen and Riitta Hakkarainen will be part of the Windows into the Unseen exhibition, they explore the „reference man“, the male body used as the default in design and safety testing, with The Reference Woman: a dress carrying a safety harness built around the female body, asking what happens when the body design is meant to protect is not the body it was imagined for.
Windows into the Unseen is a month-long exhibition where 16 women activist artists transform @deptfordlounge windows into sites of visibility, reflection and dialogue. It brings hidden and normalised forms of violence against women and girls into public view, while amplifying stories of resilience, survival and empowerment through collective care and action. Join us at Deptford Lounge from 16 November to 12 December.
