That swelling behind your knee may not be “just swelling.” 👀

A Baker’s cyst is a fluid-filled swelling that develops behind the knee, usually because something inside the knee is causing excess fluid production.

Common causes include:
🦵 Knee arthritis
🦵 Meniscus problems
🦵 Knee injury
🦵 Inflammation inside the joint

You may experience:
• A noticeable lump or fullness behind the knee
• Knee stiffness or discomfort
• Difficulty bending the knee fully
• Sometimes pain or swelling extending toward the calf

Physiotherapy can help by addressing the underlying knee problem, improving strength and mobility, managing symptoms, and helping you return to normal activities.

⚠️ If you have sudden calf swelling, significant calf pain, warmth/redness, or shortness of breath, seek urgent medical attention rather than assuming it is a Baker’s cyst.

Don’t just treat the swelling—find out what’s causing it.
