An appreciation post for Charlee, my chosen family, the love of my life, and the unfortunate recipient of four-hour FaceTime calls that somehow turn into forensic psychological investigations of everyone I’ve ever met. Poor bitch deserves an honorary doctorate. ❤️

I’ve genuinely never felt so safe, understood, or loved by another person. She was there through the darkest moments of my eating disorder and continues to stand beside me in recovery, never once making me feel judged, ashamed, or difficult to love.

The last screenshot is actually from a therapy session she attended with me. My therapist is a HUGE fan of Charlee, which is impressive considering the amount of evidence she’s had to review. 😂

We wanted to better understand my trauma responses and reactivity, and how to navigate difficult moments together rather than turn against each other. Not because something was broken, but because our friendship matters enough to both of us to work on it.

Charlee can call me out on my bullshit without making me feel small. I can be vulnerable without worrying it’ll be used against me. We can disagree without me ever questioning her love or fearing abandonment.

That’s what makes this friendship so extraordinary to me. I don’t have to perform being okay to feel safe, and I’ve never had to question where I stand.

I love this woman beyond words. Thank you for showing me what it means to genuinely show up for someone, even when it’s complicated.

And thank you for continuing to answer my calls despite knowing that “one last thing” means another 90 minutes. I love you, bitch. ❤️
