Wedding dresses are the ultimate keepsake. An artifact of the day she says, “I do.” Because fabric holds memory, the fashion house behind the stitch matters.

These vignettes were courtesy of Mira Couture, a luxury bridal atelier in Chicago’s Gold Coast. I had the pleasure of profiling its owner, Julie Mersine Romeli, for Modern Luxury. Like an heirloom passed from one woman to another, so too has Mira Couture changed hands without losing its thread. Founder Mira Horoszowski’s 50-year legacy lives on through Julie.
