Residents in Benton County, Indiana are fighting three proposed CAFOs that would hold 26,000 pigs. They were given a notice in the mail about a hearing that would happen in less than three weeks. When 50 people showed up to the zoning hearing to object and ask them to postpone the vote, they were denied and both boards voted unanimously to move it forward.

A resident stated, “It feels very clandestine, very hush-hush. Suddenly there was a meeting and it was done before anyone could blink.” Nine property owners are now in court alleging improper procedure, and they have a hearing set for December 23.

this is so eerie — 50 people showed up to oppose and they still voted unanimously to approve 🤨
