The Giant of the Alps - The incredible Aletsch Glacier. But tragically another one of nature’s marvels under existential threat from climate change. This past summer alone saw a 5% loss of ice mass, and up to 13m decrease in thickness. At the current rate of warming the entire glacier (along with almost all others in the Alps) will disappear within my lifetime. An area that has been under ice for over 100,000 years, gone.

It’s sad to think that future generations won’t be able to stand at the edge of this glacier in awe as I was. I would say visit if you’re able, take it in, see what we have to lose. Travel thoughtfully and don’t look away from what’s happening, here and around the world. Act where you can.
