I asked these two CTA riders what they want fixed, and their answers were clear: cleaner trains and no smoking.

My 5-point CTA plan addresses both, with real-time cleaning and smoke sensors to help make the system safer, cleaner, and more reliable.

I would love to see more positive messages on the CTA trains! Small signs or posters reminding people to be kind and have a good day. Visual reminders are a good way to help people remember how we all deserve to feel riding public transit 😊

@joeforchicago INVEST in entrances that dont let you hop over or under, it'll block off a fair amount of bad eggs. Invest in the volume of cleaners and their methods, ( CTA train car cleaners get write ups for their sick days which are inevitable ). These cleaners cant do their job with homeless people on the train that the police wont even kick off ( they pick and choose). It's not the cleaners responsibility to say hey sir move i gotta wipe this shit underneath you. Last but not least, there are always active police on the red line. Yet very few are actively looking around, and are just killing time. Increase the volume in all aspects, and you will see a dramatic increase in the willingness of people ENJOYING their commute, not just Surviving it.

Joe as an avid CTA rider let me tackle your question: 1. Modernize railcars and use a more open concept forum. The seats for the blue line compared to the seats for the redline is completely swapped. Having seated rows for the blue line would passengers flow to and from the doors and leave space for peoples luggage in-front of them. 2. More lines sprawling from the suburbs to the city. Using a grid like rail system would benefit passengers mote than busses because let’s face it, busses cause traffic just as much as passenger vehicles do. 3. Modernize the CTA tap and pay entrances with more fare evasion technology. The turnstiles are outdated and do not stop people from fare evading it’s just the truth. 4. Make Student fare free, theres no reason kid going to school whether it’s parents escorting their youngest to school or teenagers heading to classes should have to pay for fare if it’s already discounted to 75 cents a ride. Thanks not sure about your policies or where you stand as a candidate but if any other candidate or @chicagosmayor see this message these are some of the biggest needs for the CTA

I understand that the homeless need a place for warmth and a place to rest or rest, I have sympathy believe me. But why can't there be a garbage bin for them to dispose their trash? Would they? Should we as a society approach homeless people who might potentially be unstable and mentally ill that they should place their trash in a bin? Is that crazy? I asked a lady on the blue line what kind of white dust she was cutting up, she told me politely that it was heroin. (I tried to guess crack cocaine but that's when she said it was actually heroin)
