Repairing Chicago’s aging bridges is necessary. Failing to coordinate the work is not acceptable.

The Division St. bridges are scheduled to close in early 2027. Lake Street and Cortland are already under construction, while Chicago and Halsted is scheduled to reopen by the end of 2026. If that timeline slips, all four projects could overlap.

That is the problem with poor planning. It creates longer commutes, traffic backups, delays for businesses, and more frustration for everyone trying to move through the city.

We can build better bridges. We also need to coordinate the work. taken in Division Street Bridge by @joeforchicago

Chicago’s best days aren’t behind us.

I’m not a politician. I’m a teacher, an entrepreneur, and someone who believes in what we all know Chicago can become. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @joeforchicago

Women’s health affects every family and every community in Chicago.

I joined Women’s Health Advocates to hear from leaders in policy, medicine, research, and innovation.

City leadership starts with listening to the people doing the advocacy and grassroots work to help more women access the care they need at every stage of life. I’m proud be an ally and support their dedication, hardwork, and vision for health equity and access. by @joeforchicago

I asked these two CTA riders what they want fixed, and their answers were clear: cleaner trains and no smoking.

My 5-point CTA plan addresses both, with real-time cleaning and smoke sensors to help make the system safer, cleaner, and more reliable.

Chicago needs more housing of every kind, in every part of the city.

My goal is to build at least 100,000 new homes, grow our neighborhoods, and keep Chicago affordable.

If we want affordability, we have to build. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @joeforchicago

We’ve gotten used to such negative and divisive narratives around schools in Chicago, but what if we started to listen to each other and work together instead of fighting? A school is more than a building. It’s a community.

Decisions about the future of CPS should start by asking families what they need, what they want, and what they envision for their neighborhoods.

With Chicago electing its first fully elected school board this fall, these conversations matter more than ever and we need leadership that’s ready to listen and not just go on the attack. by @joeforchicago

I wrote The Holberg Plan so Chicagoans can see, in detail, how I think about the city and where I believe we need to go next.

Chapters 1 through 3 are available to read for free online, and you can also listen to the audio version on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

One year ago, I was the first to announce I was running for Mayor of Chicago.

Since then, I’ve spent this year listening, learning, showing up and meeting people across this city. And through every conversation, I’ve become even more certain about why I’m doing this.

Chicago gave me a chance to build a life here. I became a teacher, built a business, raised my family and found countless ways to serve others along the way.

Now I want to give back to the city that gave me so much.

I’m running for Mayor because I believe every Chicagoan deserves the opportunity to build a life they’re proud of here. A good job. A home they can afford. Great schools for their kids. A city that works for them.

One year down. Five months to go.

Let’s go, Chicago. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @joeforchicago
