Frank and Red (Matt Coyne) - 5/5 (would’ve been six if I could). Wasn’t sure about this one at first, but Red basically forces his way into grumpy old Frank’s life and doesn’t let up. Made me laugh and cry in equal measure. It's an absolute masterpiece.
The Five (Hallie Rubenhold) - 5/5 Not another Jack the Ripper book… this one’s actually about the five women he killed, built from real genealogical research. Slower read, but I loved every bit of it.
Home Before Dark (Riley Sager) - 4/5 A haunted house story where the father’s memoir and the daughter’s present-day account weave together brilliantly. Turns out there’s a grounded explanation behind it all, and it kept me turning pages right to the end.
No Women Were Harmed (Heather Mottershead) - 4/5 Victorian asylum setting, told entirely from Lily’s point of view as she tries to convince everyone she’s not “hysteric.” A heavier read for me, but so well researched.
The Only One Left (Riley Sager) - 5/5 My first Riley Sager, and I went in with zero expectations… ended up absolutely incredible. A decaying mansion and a local legend that paid off brilliantly.
