It's so easy to feel that you have to overgive, overshare, overdeliver, overdo everything.

I know everyone that I work with always goes a mile and above to look after their staff, their family, their customers.

At a certain point, though, energy is reciprocal. Your value is your commodity.

What's critical right now is understanding your capacity to deliver and ensuring that you work with, spend time with, communicate with, and invest in people that see the value, can understand it, can ask questions, and make the time to go on the journey with you.

Whether it's a client, whether it's a personal relationship, whether it's a friendship, it can't be a one-way street.

No one wants to talk about this but I think this is a radical reminder in business: true long-term relationships are a journey.

They are peaks and troughs.
They are removing misconceptions, improving perceptions, and, most of all, building a relationship together.

That is so important for where you're heading in your business and your life. It's not a transaction.

If you're constantly feeling drained, overdelivering, and someone isn't putting any effort in to meet you halfway, then you don't have a dream team. You have a hope project and it's never going to work out.

🛟 Save for later or share and Comment "bottleneck" below and I'll send you the questions that we use and some personal tips to identify when your energy isn't being reciprocated.

Overdelivery usually starts where the scope was never written down. A one page scope with a clear definition of done for each deliverable, plus a small priced menu of extras, gives you a ready answer when a client asks for more. A request outside the page becomes a quick pricing conversation.
