i don’t think people will ever fully understand what that means to some of us.

twenty one pilots found me in some of the darkest parts of my life. addiction, sobriety, the nights i didn’t know how to keep going, the versions of myself i was desperately trying to save. there were times when i didn’t know how to put what i was feeling into words, but somehow, these songs said it for me.

they didn’t magically fix everything. they couldn’t make the hard days disappear or do the work of getting better for me. but they gave me something to hold onto when i needed it most. they made me feel less alone in things i didn’t know how to explain. they reminded me that there was still something worth fighting for, even when i couldn’t see it for myself.

and somewhere along the way, the music became part of my sobriety, part of my healing, part of the reason i kept choosing to stay.

i know some people might think that’s dramatic. honestly, that’s okay. they don’t have to understand it. i know what those songs meant to me when i was struggling to find reasons to keep going. i know what they still mean to me now.

i genuinely believe there is a version of my story where i don’t make it here without them. and i will never take for granted that i got to stand in that crowd, sing along to those words, feeling that happiness intertwined with sadness and knowing i’m still here.

so when i see him standing there, smiling at thousands of people cheering for him, i hope he truly knows that some of those people are cheering for so much more than the music.

some of us are cheering for the songs that got us through the nights we thought we wouldn’t survive. for the words that made us feel understood. for the part of ourselves we managed to hold onto. for the lives we’re still here to live.

and for the chance to stand in a crowd like this and feel happy to be alive.

thank you, tyler. thank you, josh. thank you for making music that found me when i needed it most. ILYSM

Beautifully said. I like to believe he is still humble enough to understand us all. He is a salt of the earth Ohioan after all. We are made of good stuff

I was at the pit once during trees. A lot of people were singing, but even more people were screaming tyler "you saved my life, thanks". It was beautiful
