Title: Double Decker
Size: 40x30”
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Year: 2026
*These paintings are part of “ Jungle Junk “ series which is part of a solo art exhibition. This exhibition is on display at Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) from October 9th - 30th.
Jungle Junk explores the tension between Guam’s lush natural landscapes and the human debris that accumulates within them—examining our relationship to place, consumption, neglect, and the traces we leave behind.
CONTEXT: For this series and exhibition, I went around to public beaches and jungles on Guam, photographed and painted the landscapes as is. In other words, it reflects the reality that although the island of Guam is beautiful, we also live with land that is polluted with the remnants of our consumption.
Anything that I painted, I cleaned up or attempted to clean up and documented the process. I also used some of the junk for the sites to create a sculpture for the exhibition.
