The cost of our fertility journey 💉🔬🧬

Just a reminder this is just our experience. Fertility treatment looks completely different for everyone, so what we needed & what we paid won’t necessarily be the same for somebody else.

We also know we’re very fortunate to have been in a position to cover the crazy costs that came with private treatment but it's still taken its toll in every way possible.

Our journey lasted around 18 months & took 8 attempts before we finally got our positive 💙

Here’s the easiest way we could break it down 👇🏻

🤍 Initial appointments & testing - £828
This included consultations, scans, AMH testing and infection screening.

💚 Monthly fertility supplements for the 18 months - £1440

💙 2 x IUI attempts - £2,759.02
Including medication.

🧬 Donor sperm - £6,239.40
This included 5 donor sperm vials, import fees and storage fee's

💚 First IVF round + fresh embryo transfer - £8,048.33

This included our first egg collection, IVF treatment, fresh transfer, embryo monitoring, extended culture, embryo freezing & storage, embryo glue, HFEA fees & medication.

🧡 All the following Frozen embryo transfers - £13,086.91
This includes all medication and additional Lubion injections.

🩸 Further fertility testing -£578
After several failed treatments, we also paid privately for blood clotting, antibody and immune testing.

By December, we had spent £32,539.66 & then at this point we discovered a multi-cycle IVF package. (Wish we realised this sooner 🥲)

Multi cycle ivf package - £7,225
This covered up to 2 further IVF cycles & 2 egg collections.

& ironically but very thankfully we conceived on the first try of that new package 🥹💙

That cycle became our second egg collection + second fresh embryo transfer & finally gave us our big fat positive on the pregnancy test.

So our total fertility spend came to an eye watering £41,204.66 🙃

We're sharing this because fertility treatment isn’t only an emotional & physical investment but for many families, it can be a huge financial one too.

But after everything it's took to get here, we're now only a matter of days away from meeting him 🥹

Worth every penny a million times over ❤️

Aus same sex couple here and we went to the US (where our sperm was stored/unable to bring in to WA) - our last tally was $100k (egg retrieval and 2 IVF cycles). It’s still counting with embryo storage. Baby is due in just under 2 months and so worth it!

Wow thank you for sharing this, I'd never inagine it would cost this much, thats wild and I know it will be so worth it but I also think its unfair for you boith having to pay so much. And some people are not even in a position to afford this. Cant wait, not long now you 3!!! Cant wait to see Freddie with them 🥹 xx

Just out of interest - would you be happy to share more on your immune testing, antibody testing- what that was and if you think it had an influence on receiving your positive result. Thank you x
