Brazilian party food in Vancouver: Gimme Bakery.

Coxinhas, brigadeiros, cheese bread and the cake that took over the menu. Lais and Nathalia met almost ten years ago and run Gimme together today. They started small, with morango do amor that Nathalia delivered herself by scooter around downtown. Most of the menu can be ordered the same day, and the party kit can be ready in a few hours.

I’ll be honest, I used to be so damn insecure about my arm. Post stage 1, I questioned if I made the right decision with going through bottom surgery. All the open wounds, the freshness of those wounds, I was truly disgusted not going to lie. I never wanted to touch it. First time I had to wash my arm in the shower, I almost passed out- luckily my mom was there with me for that. Having to wrap and conceal my arm, my leg, my penis, every. single. day. For months- to a year. I asked myself if all of this was truly worth it. I didn’t have an answer at that time, but I knew I needed to just stick through the process. (And there was also no going back😂 so that was my only option anyway). I never wanted to go out in public with my arm. I was very self conscious. To this day, I always know when someone looks/glances at it. But it’s different now compared to then- solely because I gained confidence with it. I needed time to adjust. To realize that this was my norm now. I hated having to wear a sun protectant sleeve in the first year because I knew that just drew more attention to me- people would ask what happened, etc. The way I worked on this insecurity- I would go to the gym without wearing a sleeve. It forced me to get comfortable with seeing it and being in a public setting as well. As I got more comfortable, I started going out at night without long sleeves or a bandage on. After a year, I stopped wearing my sun protectant sleeve and let the sun do its thing (as I have w every other scar on my body). I’m VERY pleased with how my scar has faded and how it looks now. I rubbed vitamin E oil with shea butter lotion on it every single day (still do), wore a silicone sleeve to bed for 2 years every single night (got this from my OT), alongside the sun exposure. I don’t think twice about my arm now. I also do NOT regret bottom surgery by any means. I just needed time to do its thing- that’s why I always say to stay patient. I can tattoo over it if I want- so many people ask this. I don’t plan to right now, nor do I feel the need to. I’ve grown to love my scar and for what it always reminds me of. Idrk why I share all this tbh. Just showing u im human too.
