Netflix is developing a documentary in its critically acclaimed Untold sports series on the case of Daejon Labrayae Love, the California man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver while allegedly defrauding women out of more than $1 million through romance and investment schemes, according to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, titled Untold: Wide Deceiver, will be told primarily through firsthand accounts from those affected by the alleged scheme. A source close to production told The Hollywood Reporter that the film will focus on the women’s stories and is not expected to include participation from Love himself. No director or full participant list has been announced.
Netflix confirmed the project on its Tudum site, describing it as an exploration of one of the most viral stories of 2026. The documentary is produced by Propagate and Stardust Frames in association with North of Now and The Cut. Executive producers include Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Maclain Way, Chapman Way, Ryan Duffy, Isabel San Vargas, Aaron Ginsburg, William Green, Andrew Renzi, and Nick Boak.
