Over Donner Summit, the pine gives way to sagebrush. After dodging potholes and road snakes through Reno, the pavement smooths out and the Great Basin opens up. Nothing but good road, dry lakebeds, and mountains that never seem to get any closer. Heat rolling off the asphalt, the motor cooking your legs, and plenty of stops along the way to get out of the sun and take it all in. I was in no real hurry to get anywhere. Just enjoying the miles, the empty country, and whatever catches my eye along the way. A couple gallons at a time, working my way home to Idaho. 🖤⚡️🖤
