With his son Gunner Rivers committed to NC State, the dots are easy to connect on paper. Do you pull a Deion Sanders and hand him the head coaching keys straight out of high school? Or do you bring him in as an Offensive Coordinator first to learn the administrative ropes under a veteran staff? Rivers has one of the greatest football minds in ACC history, but going from high school sidelines in Alabama to managing a multi-million-dollar NIL roster in Raleigh is a completely different monster.
Wolfpack Nation: Would you hire Philip Rivers as NC State's next head coach TODAY, or is that insane? Drop your takes below! 👇

Dammit, we are moving to Fairhope in Spr/Sum 2027 and one of the draws was seeing his team play.

Feels like passing on Jimbo Fisher to hire Tom O’Brian because he’s been a head coach. I’d rather lose taking a chance than keep accepting mediocre results year after year

I think you have to replace DD at the end of this season. The fans are starting to disappear. We don’t have a choice. Nothing wrong with corrective hires when they need correcting.

No. Get an up and coming mid-major or FCS coach. Plenty of them as good as DD, maybe better. Go through them until you find a good one. Doesn't take more than 3 years to know.

Hire him and bring on the best and most savvy GM available. Then build a staff long on experience. This is the NIL era. You need to win fast. Like today. His football IQ is unmatched and NOBODY will excite Wolfpack nation like P. Rivers. We are not Alabama. Place ALL the chips on the table. He will win BIG. The Pack needs to go all-in and support him like no tomorrow.

The dude was interviewed to coach the Bills last season, he’s clearly in the process, or at least very interested in it.
