There are people you admire for their work. And then there are people you admire even more for who they are.

Matin Maulawizada is one of those rare people.

For over 30 years, he’s worked with some of the most recognizable faces in the world, from Angelina Jolie to Claire Danes and Jessica Chastain. But his artistry is only a small part of what makes him extraordinary.

A molecular biologist by training, Matin was championing "clean" and non-toxic beauty and beauty standards and the importance of healthy skin long before they became industry conversations.

Raised alongside six sisters, he’s a feminist at heart. A vocal advocate for women, a champion of independent, female-founded brands, and someone who has used his influence to prop up and create opportunities for others.

There’s a soulfulness to Matin. In an industry so focused on appearances, he’s always stood for something deeper.

He was one of Motif’s earliest believers, and we’re incredibly proud to call him a friend.
