Last week we posted a video that captured a SpaceX rocket launch from southern California that was seen all the way over our skies in the 209. It looked really cool. But here’s an even cooler launch that took place in Florida with the same rockets that we see here in California.

🪼 A cosmic jellyfish over Florida’s Space Coast.
Following the launch of SpaceX’s 35th commercial resupply mission for NASA to the International Space Station, spectators were treated to a stunning phenomenon often called a “space jellyfish.” As the Falcon 9 climbed through the upper atmosphere, sunlight illuminated the expanding exhaust plume, creating a glowing, jellyfish-like shape high above Earth.
What looks like a sea creature drifting through the night sky is actually rocket exhaust interacting with the thin upper atmosphere and catching sunlight before the sun rises over the horizon. This can also happen just after sunset.
Moments like these remind us that spaceflight is not only about exploration and science, but also about inspiring awe in everyone who looks up! 📸 NASA
