TNHT Staff: @YesThatsDee _________________ Neighbors, heartbreaking new details are emerging from the deadly shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, where three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher were killed. _________________ Fifth-grade teacher Kathy Sheil Smith recalled spotting the 16-year-old gunman carrying a long gun before immediately alerting the school’s office and moving her students to a corner of the classroom. _________________ “They were so afraid, the looks on their faces. It was really hard to see,” Smith recalled through tears. “I was just trying to calm them down.” She described how the children tried to comfort one another while fearing for their lives. _________________ “Some kids were praying, some kids were consoling other kids, but doing so quietly because they know you don’t make any noise.” _________________ According to reports, the teenager shot through security locks designed to protect students before entering the school’s special education area and opening fire. _________________ In a shocking turn of events, dispatch audio reportedly suggested a student’s father followed the shooter inside and fatally shot him. Russian President Vladimir Putin had reportedly suggested a summit between himself, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping for a deal to end the Ukraine war. The meeting was mentioned in a phone call to Trump on Oct. 9. The call also produced a deal for Moscow to sell diesel oil on the global market. The summit is not confirmed, but if it takes place will not involve Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and may take place at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November:
