When I went no contact with my dad, I spoke to my mum about it and she said "your dad never hit you!" - yea, no he battered the shit out of me on a regular basis. Congratulations on not paying attention 🙄

The reaction of the parents is so infuriating. I remember my parents throwing me out because I wanted to study psychology instead of getting a job straight after school. Years later, when I was successful, they said at the dinner table and said to a guest, "We're so proud, we encouraged him to study." I was so furious but said nothing. Today, I have no contact to them. If course, they wonder why. Oh, I forgot, of course, physical, sexual and emotional violence was part of my family package...
