We walked thirteen miles from the edge of Sunderland to the outskirts of South Shields. Someone told us to look out for the elephant. I kept my eyes peeled and then some locals I bumped into pointed it out. Once you see it, you can't unsee it, but you do need to be standing in a specific area to be able to see it.

After visiting the Marsden Grotto, we mooched on to find somewhere quiet to sleep. I hoped we might see the northern lights, but there were too many street lights dazzling the sky over nearby South Shields. A little check on my phone today however, and I think I may have been mildly lucky with a few colours. 💚💙🥾

1,591 miles in the rucksack. £11,800 raised.
